Partner 3: Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS)
The Fluid Dynamics Department of Ecole Centrale de Nantes (ECN) depends both from the Ministry of National Education (MEN) and from the "Centre National de la
Recherche Scientifique " (CNRS) as a Unit Research 6598. The main role of the department centres on teaching and research. In the latter area, there is a very strong
emphasis on viscous hydrodynamics, multifluid flows on very complex geometries and high Reynolds number turbulence modelling being particular strengths.
CNRS will carry out CFD calculations on detailed parts of a ship using their in-house RANSE solver ISISCFD. A total number of 11 test cases will be computed.
Some cases will be computed in model scale in order to study the scale effects. Furthermore, two test cases will be computed by all three project participants in order to
carry out a limited benchmark study.
The key researchers involved in this project will be Dr. Michel Visonneau, head of the CFD group of the Fluid Dynamics Department, Dr. Patrick Queutey, Emmanuel Guilmineau,
researchers at CNRS, Dr. Alban Leroyer, assistant-professor at ECN and Dr. GanBo Deng, research engineer from MEN.
Drs Michel Visonneau and GanBo Deng are highly experienced researchers on turbulence modelling for model and full scale hydrodynamics applications with many publications
to their credit and Drs Patrick Queutey, Emmanuel Guilmineau and Alban Leroyer will contribute their strong numerical expertises in free surface
viscous flows on complex geometries.
