Partner 16: MCA
The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) is an Executive Agency of the UK Department for Transport. MCA is continuously working toward ensuring
- Safer lives
- Safer ships
- Cleaner seas.
Operationally, MCA provides a 24-hour maritime search and rescue service, checks the safety of ships and works to prevent pollution of our coasts, or takes action to
minimise any pollution that does occur. MCA manages the registration and quality of ships on the UK Ship Register, and provides services for seafarers.
Increasingly, the focus is on prevention and a measure of success is when accidents do not happen, or where MCA can intervene to minimise impact.
